Sand Burn

03.29.17 Delray Beach, Florida

First day in Florida! My cousin Kate was kind enough to pick us up from Ft. Lauderdale, my sister and her boyfriend flew in and I took the tri-rail train from Miami. We checked out our airbnb place, which is very nice and clean on the inside but is unfortunately not in the nicest neighborhood. Then we saw Kate's amazing apartment! It's very nice and has a balcony with a great view.

We met up with all of our parents at a bar called Sand Bar, it's directly across the street from the beach and they have delicious rum drinks. Soooo we day drank for a while and talked, then went to put our feet in the ocean for a little bit before Kate and Aunt Cathy went to get their nails done. Let me tell you, the sand is HOT. I thought if I kept moving I'd be okay and I was wrong. My sister got a blister about the size of a dime.. my entire foot is burnt. It's disgusting and painful.. no idea how I'm going to wear heels in two days! I have a gigantic blister right in the middle of my foot and under all of my toes. Beware of the sand guys, beware.

The day drinking with the burned feet with the sun and the heat (it wasn't that hot at all but I'm generalizing) threw me for a loop and I got a significant headache and a little bit grumpy. We Ubered to our parents' hotel and went swimming with my mom, she was psyched to get back in the water at six weeks post op from a TKR. After that we all drove back to Kate's, her apartment complex had a food truck event that night so that's where we planned to eat dinner!

Unfortunately there were only two food trucks, I guess normally there are four, but it was interesting and fun. One food truck was "BFF" (best french fries) and the other was an Italian sausage truck. Bobby (my sister's boyfriend) and my stepdad John both got French fries with marshmallow dipping sauce.. it was surprisingly not that bad and actually makes sense with sweet potato fries. The bride & groom (Candice and Sam) joined us for a while so that was nice to see them before the festivities begin. After dinner we just partied at Kate's, and when I say we I mean everyone else because I just collapsed on the couch. 😂

Mad made me some quinoa and kale after a while because I didn't eat dinner and didn't eat much lunch #vegproblems #whyflorida But it was very good and I am super grateful! After that we ubered back to the airbnb and I attempted to complete some of my Michigan Driver Responsibilty course that's due today. I am really hoping I'm able to get through it without it interfering too much into my day.
