Silver Sands Resort

Silver Sands wins Gold!

I was REALLY nervous about booking this place and even told my sister not to after I called multiple times and was told "the system is down, call back in two hours" or "the system is down, call back tomorrow." However, I'm glad she was able to call at what was probably a more regular hour and successfully book our stay. Everyone we spoke to on the phone was always polite and helpful. It's inconvenient that you can't book online through their website but that's a personal preference.

After reading these reviews, I got nervous again about booking this place. We came for my cousin's wedding and they had reserved blocks at the Ritz (also on Key Biscayne) or the Hampton which is in Miami.. we wanted to stay close to everyone on the Key but I wasn't sure at what cost.. the reviews made it sound like a roach infested wreck of a place. IT'S NOT.

Our room was the parking lot view room and it's the cheapest option. We stayed in room 122 which ended up being a one minute walk from the pool and a two minute walk from the beach. This was 100% worth every penny. The room was very clean and came equipped with a kitchenette. It's definitely no room at the Ritz but it was appropriate for the price, if not better. Our view was of the parking lot but we didn't spend any time sitting in the room looking out the window.

We did visit the pool, which was also clean. We were given towels when we entered the pool area and there were tables & chairs.

The wifi was horrible, so I will say that part of the reviews was true. However, while we were there I saw workers installing routers at various locations around the resort so I'm sure they are working on the wifi issue.

I would absolutely stay at the Silver Sands Resort again. It's not a brand new resort, it's not the cleanest place I've ever stayed but it wasn't dirty. Sure the floor had some cracks and so did the pool, but the bed was comfortable, there were extra blankets in the room, you can get pizza delivered, Uber can pick you up there, there's a microwave and fridge along with glasses and plates. You cannot beat the price at this place for what you're getting. They pay great attention to the grounds and the garden is beautiful. The pool area is very nice and relaxing. The beach is literally TWO MINUTES away and it's beautiful. Everyone we encountered there was very nice.

Lastly, just FYI- half of our family was staying at the Ritz and it was a ten minute walk on the beach from Silver Sands to the Ritz so it was easy for us to meet them every day.
