Killin' it at Karaoke

***Sorry for delayed post guys. We shifted time zones so we are now seven hours ahead of you all in the USA, one hour ahead of my good friends in Germany. Also, we will not have wifi until our next "cruising" day on the 13th. Until then I'll try my best to get the updates to push through while we're on land.***

-DAY 2, At Sea-

9.6.16 Tuesday

Holy smokes guys.. I loved Irish breakfast, I loved Scottish breakfast, I loved German breakfast, I even loved English breakfast.. Italian breakfast? Not my fave. Today we got to have a big fat American breakfast and it was so satisfying!

Sleeping in also felt really awesome! Although it delayed our getting to the deck to relax and read in the sun.. which would have been fine but then it got VERY windy (and later it rained). EP settled into a cocoon while I lamented the amount of sunscreen I had just wasted.. then we went back to our room.

TO FIND... all of the things we could do! They have a cruise paper every day called the "Cruise Compass" and it has allllllll of the activities listed with times and locations. We decided to try some 'visual' Disney trivia [guess names of characters based on close up photos of them] at the Schooner Bar and we would have won if it hadn't been for that stinky Zeus from Hercules (the picture totally looked like a furry little animal in my opinion).

Needing a pick me up after our tough loss we got some lunch and then I kicked Erica's ass at speed (a card game). We also completed Day 2 of trivia, it's found in the library and the answers are on the back.  We thoroughly enjoyed it as some of the answers made no sense and beyond that we pretty much got most of them right.

At 5pm there was another round of trivia at Schooner Bar, this time 'Capitals'. We sat at the piano with a young man from southern Brazil and two friendly Australian mates who work in hospitality (they have their own hotel!). We formed a team, "Winners are Grinners" and had some laughs with the host, JP, who is also from Brazil. It was great! But we did not win, not even a little bit, not at all. LOL! We got 7 out of 18 I believe, and really EP & I only knew Havana, Cuba and Seoul, South Korea.

We chatted with the Aussies for a while and they gave us great advice on shore excursions and getting on and off the ship. Also, one of their friends was one of the first people in Australia to get a heart transplant and he lived for thirty years after that (for those of you who don't know, that's quite impressive).

Tonight was formal night so we headed to the state room to get gussied up. Of course I suddenly hated everything I brought and I absolutely didn't have shoes to go with anything! Luckily our reservation was for 845p so I had time to put on and take off everything in my suitcase.

On our way to dinner we were given free champagne and we stopped to listen to somee jazzy tunes and watch people meet & greet with el capitán (the captain).

Dinner was DELISH tonight, we both loved our appetizers and entrees and even got the same dessert (cheesecake), which was also great and our waitress brought us her third favorite dessert to try as well (a lemon meringue pie/tart).

Sleep sounded like a plan because we knew we'd have to get off the ship early the next day but we'd spent so much time getting ready for formal night we thought why not stay up.. so we went to karaoke!

No one wanted to be the first one to sing, JP was the host (same guy as trivia) and he kept asking people to come on up! Finally an elderly trio called 'Heartbeat & the Pacemakers' broke the ice. After that an Australian lady trio sang "Build me up Buttercup" and we recognized then from our muster station during the lifeboat drill. Next EP and I got up there and did a little "Don't Stop Believin'" and I'm not gonna lie, we were a hit. JP told the audience we would be signing autographs after the show 😂😂 We were both really nervous.. check out the pictures of the stage, it was huge in there! But people cheered for us and complimented us when we sat down and then later on JP waa like "Melissa, Erica, you guys can come sing again!" Haha.. so we sang Eye of the Tiger and started making a list of songs to keep in our back pocket for next time! It's hard depending on the crowd.

At the end of karaoke a nice girl named Rachel came over, she's from Florida and is here with her friend Sarah who lives in Austria but is from Germany! We were SO happy because we had been hoping to meet some people our age and it was perfect because tomorrow is our first port! So we made plans to meet for breakfast. Yay!

Well, that's all the time I have, goodnight folks! Thank you, blog readers!
