Wrapping Up Rhapsody of the Seas
-DAY 11, Docked in Venice, Italy-
9.15.16 Thursday
Our last day of the cruise!!! We are SO sad. And not at all ready for the next adventure, lol. We hope that fall has reached Michigan by the time we get home. Danis made fun of us because it wasn't even 'hot' yesterday.. we don't normally see the sun, people! Night shifters here!
Anyway, we woke up before our alarm, as we have been, both of us pretty hungry. Suits on & time for a fancy coffee & then breakfast! It was a bit cloudy but the sun still tried to peak out, also quite humid with no breeze. We toughed it out for a few hours, did our last trivia with JP at 1115! It was "General Knowledge" and Olga ended up coming to sit with us. One of the questions was, "What do polar bears eat?" and when EP said seals I looked at her like she said human babies. Lol! I refused to write it and she was right. I thought they were friends!!! Seals & polar bears. Guess not. We did NOT do well! But the people from Maine we had breakfast with days ago gave us their RC pens because they 'have so many' from their other wins. We said bye to JP and then headed back up to the deck.
Around 2p we gave up because the sun was really hiding at this point. We came back to the room and got ready for the rest of the day and also filled out our comment cards praising all of our favorite people. This was such a great cruise!
We had no plans until 5pm so we weren't really sure what we were going to do. We didn't want to get off the ship because at this point it was rainy out and we still have a whole day in Venice so we weren't worried about it. We were in Schooner Bar and we were walking by two fellows we've seen often there when they said hello. We ended up chatting with them for like 3 hours! They are David & Eric from Glasgow, Scotland, although Eric lives in London now. They cruise quite often with RC and they're the second group of people we met who mentioned all the perks of cruising with the same company all the time. We talked about EVERYTHING from politics to travel to family. It was great conversation!! At 5p we teamed up to do the Tri-bond Trivia, Josh was hosting.... and WE WON!!! So they give you 3 words and you have to write down what they have in common. EP and I were knocking it out of the park and only missed 2 out of 10, one of which Eric and David had so that's when we teamed up. Then at the last second we got the other one and turned in our papers. We got them all right! But so did another team. TIEBREAKER! 3 more and we WONNNNNNN!!!!!!!!! It took us all cruise and a lot of trivia but we did it and earned our RC pens fair & square!
Danis and Jesus were MIA so we ordered from another lady and our drinks were not great. We headed downstairs to change for dinner before 7p trivia. Danis was still MIA when we got back so we went with margaritas.. and the guy put OJ in them 😭 Jesus came back so for my next drink I asked him for a real margarita and it was delish. 7p trivia was Motown Hits so we should have done well, right? Because we're from Detroit, right? HA! We wrote down the Four Tops or the Supremes for like every answer 😂😳 Ah well, you can't win them all.
After 7p trivia we headed to the Centrum for 8p trivia, Josh was hosting that as well (he hosted 5p and 7p trivia). We met David and Andrew and I had another margarita and we did pretty well, it was Michael Jackson songs! Two other teams tied though, I think they got perfect scores.
Our last dinner reservation was for 845p and unfortunately for the third time in a row I wasn't really excited about the veg dinner options but the starter was good and so was dessert, coffee mousse. We hugged Tetiana goodbye one last time and I secretly wrote down her last name so we could find her on facebook.
There was karaoke at 1030 in the Shall We Dance Lounge but also a Farewell Show in the Centrum at 1030.. decisions! We went to the Centrum Lounge and ran into Rachel & Sarah so that was a plus but the show lasted two songs and all of six minutes so we all went to karaoke where we found Eric & David. EP & I sang Pat Benatar 'Love is a Battlefield' to the twenty or thirty people there. I almost fell because I was being goofy and hiding behind the projector screen (it was up for Spanish songs but cut the stage room in half). Later we sang 'Don't Stop Believin' with Sarah since she's never karaoked and she had to see how fun it was! Her Dutch friend that they dine with every night also sang with us, her name is Jose! We all had a great time hanging out and we added Eric on facebook and later Josh (the host). We will miss making new friends and talking to people from all over the world!!!
Buona Notte! (Goodnight!)
PS- My apologies for the lack of photos. I had literally just the one of the fun vacuum face but then EP sent me a picture of us during karaoke and I screenshotted some photos from the 'Farewell' show 😂😭
