Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge

Take your time

The only thing I didn't like is that we visited the bridge as part of a bus tour and because of that I felt the need to hurry. We were given 2 and a half hours or so at this stop on the tour, which sounded like plenty of time- for me, it wasn't. There are nice restrooms and a cafe, you also have the option to purchase a certificate for one euro saying you've crossed the bridge, the money goes to a good cause. There was a long walk on a rocky path to get to the bridge, and a long line to get across. There was another line on the way back. There can only be 8 people on the bridge at once and they have to trade back and forth between oncoming and off-going traffic. However, it was well worth the lines and waiting. The weather was fantastic, the sun was shining, and the sky was so clear you could see Scotland. I could have stayed there all day looking at the water, taking pictures, walking along the whole island, and just laying on the grass to take in the sight of the ocean. It was breathtaking. I don't remember the cost as we paid through our tour company.

I was able to take a video while walking across and had someone take a photo of me on the bridge.
