Ingolstadt, Germany
Today I got to go to a German grocery store and it was fun! Since Europe doesn’t know what ranch dressing is so the Cool Ranch Doritos are called Cool American (like me 😉) Also, Ritter Sport are my FAVORITE candy bars, Erica brought me one from Germany once and after that I was obsessed! They are like $2.50 at home so It’s a rare treat. Here, they are only €0.59 and there are soooooo many kinds (dark chocolate with marzipan is my favorite). I went a little crazy..
On our way home I found money on the ground but it was stuck there! And then across the street and down a bit we found another coin stuck to the ground.. Strange!
Next we went to Erica’s favorite cafe, I had a coupon for free lunch & a cookie or cake and a drink!!! I got an eis kaffee which is coffee with ice cream.. DELICIOUS. And a great idea. For lunch we each got a red pepper stuffed with feta cheese served on a plate of arugula with a balsamic vinaigrette and bread. VERY good meal! I keep forgetting to take a picture until after I’ve already taken a bite of food..
We grabbed a bus to the outlet mall where Erica works at Puma and we each got a pair of shoes! She showed me around, it was fun to see where she spends part of her time! We also checked out the Lindt store and they had funny little chocolates made to look like umbrellas. Also this time she was here to take my photo in a frame. 😃 Oh and we tried on goofy sunglasses at a sunglasses outlet. We are super cool!
We came home and E made my favorite dish that she makes, avocado bean salad.. Yum! We had that and some bread for dinner and then I cashed in my coupon for GAME TIME!!!
I have to say, Europe does hockey right! IT WAS SO FUCKING AWESOME!!! I’m sorry I’ve used that phrase twice in two days but I normally swear like a sailor anyway so the blog is censored to the max for the most part but I just can’t contain my glee. I had no idea what to expect but it was fantastic.
They have standing seats or regular seats there, the regular ones are closer but the arena is half the size of the joe, they have no upper deck, just a lower. So we got great standing seats, they give you a bar to lean on and you can also lean on a bar behind you. We were right next to the cheering section which reminded me of a college football game. They had a megaphone and several flags and chanted and cheered for almost the entire game. It was brilliant! I will post a video.
The game was a champions league game, the champions league consists of the top two teams from each country. ERC Ingolstadt were the German champions last year so we watched them play against a team from Sweden. It started out a little rough and Sweden scored two early. HOWEVER, the ERC Ingolstadt Panthers brought it back, with the game winning goal scored by none other than Jared ROSS! I don’t think I told you, when Ingolstadt scores, the announcer yells that we scored, yells the first name of the goal scorer, and then the crowd yells the last name. This happens three times.. The entire arena screamed ROSS at the top of their lungs THREE TIMES!!! Can you ask for a better game to be at?! Then the announcer says the score and when he announces the opponents score the crowd always yells “Null” (sort of pronounced new-el), which means zero! Haha. Then, he says “Danke” (thank you) and the crowd yells “Bitte” (you’re welcome)!!!
So my guy, number 42, ROSS, scored the game winning goal and the final score was 4-2. INGOLSTADT WAS AWESOMEEEE!!!!!
I bought a scarf and I will now proudly support this team! Yahooooooo! Ingolstadt is in the blue jerseys, Sweden in white.
Then we came back to the house and went to sleep!
